Watermarking

The watermarking functionality has been provided to apply a watermark or stamp on protocol attachments such as informed consent forms, children’s assent forms, investigator brochure etc.  The typical watermarks applied on protocol attachments have verbiage such as “Approved” /”Expired”.  Implementing schools using the watermarking feature might also choose to apply certain protocol specific data such as approval date/expiration date along with watermark text.

As a protocol goes through various stages in its lifecycle, the protocol status also changes. The watermarking functionality is closely associated with the protocol status and this allows an implementing institution to apply various watermarking texts in accordance to the different statuses of a protocol. Along with the watermarking text, an implementing institution might also want to include protocol specific data (such as protocol approval date) in the watermark. In addition various style, positioning and fonts can be applied to the watermark. If a protocol attachment is replaced by a new version of the attachment, the older version is stamped with a watermark of “INVALID”.

note.png Watermarking is only applicable to documents with a file type of PDF. Also the system applies watermarks only to PDF documents that fall under the category protocol attachments. Personnel attachments and other PDF documents such as PDF’s generated from the Print panel are not watermarked.
