IACUC Procedure Category Custom Attribute

The IACUC Procedure Category Custom Attribute maintenance document is used to add or modify a list of questions that will be asked for procedures within each procedure category. Implementing institutions can define and maintain questions for each procedure category through this maintenance table. The questions defined within the IACUC Procedure Category Custom Attribute maintenance table are displayed to the researcher within the Procedures page – Custom Data section.

Edit IACUC Procedure Category Custom Attribute

The Edit action allowed on values (such as Identify the CARE SOP surgery, When will sutures be removed) within the IACUC Procedure Category Custom Attribute maintenance document allows you to maintain the each question that appears for a procedure category and modify as needed.

Field

Description

ID

Required.  Enter a numeric value that uniquely identifies the custom data attribute (question defined for the procedure category) record in the system.  Click within the text box to relocate the cursor to the field, and then type (or paste from virtual clipboard) to enter the desired value in the box as necessary.

Procedure Category Code

Required.  Select the procedure category to associate the custom attribute to. Use the drop-down menu by clicking the down arrow to display the list, and then click on an item in the list to highlight and select it to populate the box with your selection.

 

Data Length

Required.  Enter a numeric value that uniquely defines the length of the answer to the custom data attribute (question defined for the procedure category) record in the system.  Click within the text box to relocate the cursor to the field, and then type (or paste from virtual clipboard) to enter the desired value in the box as necessary.

Data Type Code

Required.  Select the data type from (string, number and date) for the answer type to the custom data attribute (question defined for the procedure category). Use the drop-down menu by clicking the down arrow to display the list, and then click on an item in the list to highlight and select it to populate the box with your selection.

 

Default Value

Optional. Enter the default answer value for the custom data attribute (question defined for the procedure category). Click within the text box (or press the tab  key from a previous field) to relocate the cursor to the field, and then type (or paste from virtual clipboard) to enter text in the box as necessary to provide the appropriate information.  To work with larger screen real estate, click the add note  icon to view/edit/paste text in a new browser window, then click the continue button to return to the text entry field in the document.

Label

Required. Enter the custom attribute (question defined for the procedure category) that will be displayed to the researcher within the IACUC protocol). . Click within the text box (or press the tab  key from a previous field) to relocate the cursor to the field, and then type (or paste from virtual clipboard) to enter text in the box as necessary to provide the appropriate information.

Lookup Class

Select a classification of existing system lookups to associate this custom attribute with.  Use the drop-down menu by clicking the down arrow to display the list, and then click on an item in the list to highlight and select it to populate the box with your selection.

Lookup Return

Use the drop-down arrow to display the list from which you can click to select an item.  Your list selection appears in the field box to the right of the label.  Use the drop-down menu by clicking the down arrow to display the list, and then click on an item in the list to highlight and select it to populate the box with your selection.

Name

Required. Enter the name of the custom attribute (question defined for the procedure category). The name will be used to maintain the custom attribute and not be displayed to the researcher within the protocol. Click within the text box (or press the tab  key from a previous field) to relocate the cursor to the field, and then type (or paste from virtual clipboard) to enter text in the box as necessary to provide the appropriate information.

Sort Id

Optional. Enter a numeric value that sort order in which the custom data attribute (question defined for the procedure category) should appear in relation to other custom attributes for the same procedure category within the IACUC protocol – Procedures – Custom Data section.  Click within the text box to relocate the cursor to the field, and then type (or paste from virtual clipboard) to enter the desired value in the box as necessary.

Active

Required. Check the box to make the custom attribute (question defined for the procedure category) active and available for selection within the Procedures page of an IACUC protocol. Uncheck the box if you wish to inactivate protocol category and prevent its selection within the IACUC protocol.
